Clonal comparison of Tinta Roriz, Encruzado, Bastardo, Moscatel Galego, Tinto Cão, Tinta Barroca and Malvasia Fina, Códega do Larinho, Tinta Francisca

The aim of this project is to maximise the quality characteristics of the Tinta Roriz, Encruzado, Bastardo, Moscatel Galego, Tinto Cão, Tinta Barroca and Malvasia Fina, Códega do Larinho and Tinta Francisca grape varieties.
To this end, the following selection fields will continue to be monitored by collecting production, ripening and pruning data:
- 4 selection fields of 30 clones set up in the three sub-regions of the Douro Demarcated Region (in collaboration with Duorum Vinhos S.A., Rozés S.A., Sogevinus Quintas, S.A. and Sogrape Vinhos, S.A.);
- a selection field of 78 Códega do Larinho clones, set up in the Baixo Corgo sub-region of the Douro Demarcated Region (in collaboration with the Maria Rosa Foundation);
- a selection field of 179 clones of Encruzado, 36 clones of Moscatel Galego and Bastardo (under identification) installed in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Demarcated Region (in collaboration with Real Companhia Velha);
- a selection field of 190 clones of Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão (under identification) installed in the Douro Superior sub-region of the Douro Demarcated Region (in collaboration with Symington Family Estates, S.A.);
- a selection field of 200 clones of Moscatel Galego, Tinto Cão (under identification) and 8 clones of Tinta Francisca set up in the Cima-Corgo sub-region of the Douro Demarcated Region (in collaboration with Sogrape Vinhos S.A.);
- a selection field of 80 Malvasia Fina clones set up in the Cima-Corgo sub-region of the Douro Demarcated Region (in collaboration with Destildouro);
- a selection field of 61 Tinta Francisca clones in the Cima-Corgo sub-region of the Douro Demarcated Region (in collaboration with Quinta dos Murças).
